Thong Chucks: For the Summer Heat

If you’re like me and live in one of the southern states, then you’re well aware that summer is on its way with its blazing heat and hot sun. And what does hot weather mean? That the Chuck Taylors take a vacation and head to the back of your closet.

Well, that time may be over for you Chuck fanatics, as Converse is currently selling Chuck Thongs. The All Star Thong Sandal looks like a Chuck Taylor and a pair of thong flip-flops got together, made love, and had a little pair of shoe babies.

And, to be totally honest, I’m not sure if that’s a good thing.

As of the time that this article was written, the All Star Thong Sandals come in four different colors and are available for $45. If one of you Chuck Taylor lovers dishes out the cash and buys a pair, please, please, please post a picture of you wearing them! This Converse lover is dying to see what they look like on a pair of real live feet.

Chuck Taylors Add Edge and Glamour to the Prom

It’s been a long time since I went to my high school prom (I’ll spare myself the embarrassment and won’t tell you exactly how long it’s been), and when I look back, I wish I had done a few things differently.

I wish I had said “yes” to the boy who I had a crush on instead of rejecting him for fear that I would star in a real-life rendition of Carrie.

I would have gotten a limo and would have indulged in all the things that you’re supposed to indulge in when riding in the back of a limo.

And I would have worn more comfortable shoes…Chuck Taylors, to be specific.

Stilettos + Converse = Awesome

So I’m not what you’d call a “girly-girl”. I rarely wear skirts or dresses. I live in my blue jeans. I take fifteen minutes to get ready. I don’t know the difference between an exfoliator and regular cleanser. And my favorite pairs of shoes are my various, brightly-colored Converse All-Stars.

But every once in a while, I want to strap on some stilettos, pull on a short dress, slap on some red lipstick, and feel like a chick should feel…but without losing what makes me, me.

So you can imagine my excitement when I found these high-heeled Converse-esque shoes at my local costume shop. I bought them immediately and pulled them on, feeling like a girly tomboy the entire time.

Now, my only question to Converse is this—when are you going to make some high-heeled Chuck Taylors so I can have an official pair instead of these knock-offs?

Chucks in the wash

So, here’s the deal. My chucks started getting the kind of dirty that you don’t want to get (smelly) and summer is coming up. I threw my Chucks in the laundry machine and my roommate starts freakin’ out. He says “That’s counter productive”. He things that Chucks should be worn dirty, which I agree, but sometimes you need to perform some maintenance. Whether it’s ironing your shoe laces or giving your shoes the occasional wash. It’s a necessity.
